"Nostalgia" Virtual 35mm Film
Inspired by the 90s film chemistry, this film simulation pack recreates old styles of film for use with Adobe Lightroom (Both 💵 and 🏴☠️ let's be honest). This pack is built around professional cameras, phone cameras, and virtual cameras (video game photo modes, VRC Camera, etc). No I haven't tested it with every camera or every video game, but these will increase your mileage by leagues no matter what your set up is.
I've always had a deep love of photography, and the biggest hurdle for so many people is "Oh my photos are awful, they look terrible, blah blah." It helps not to think that way, and just go shooting photos. Take photos of things you love, things that interest you, and things that make you feel. Trust me, I shoot about 1000 photos a week, but only ever keep like 5 of them. Lightroom (especially presets) help give a boost to amateur photographers in improving their photos to reach new heights.
This pack is offered quite cheap compared to the premium options from actual professional photographers. I feel this is slightly unfair to those who are new to photography, and will gladly sell at a reduced price if it helps others learn the joy of photography.
Using 35mm Film as a basis, this pack includes the 5 presets for you to tweak, configure, and apply to virtually any image.
// INCLUDES //
- "Palmer" - Inspired by Northern Washington and Twin Peaks, boasting a soft, dreamy glow and warm tones. Goes great in the fall with a cup of hot black coffee.
- "Fantasy" - Just a smidge of that dark fantasy feel, pushing up the greens and purples while giving more darker shadows. Works best with architecture and night time photoshoots.
- "Fruit Punch" - Boost to those fruity colors, reminding you of a hot summer's day and a cold glass of juice. Boosting those colors you remember most in your youth.
- "Disposable" - Remember those yellow cameras you can get at airports and grocery stores? Recreate that feel of using those! Works best with a flash unit!
- "Small Town" - Inspired by independent films and indie rock band music videos, this preset gives more of a "Camcorder" feel, with very rich moments easily caught.
// REQUIRES //
- Adobe Lightroom (Any version, "Any method")
- A device capable of running Adobe Lightroom (Any OS, any phone really!)

// Q/A //
-How do I install these?
- For PC/Mac, go to File > Import Develop Profiles and Presets. Select the entire ZIP included in your purchase, and a respective folder will be created in your Develop window. For phones, I believe only Android supports importing presets. For iPhones, you need to sync with Lightroom on your home computer, which will send the presets to your phone as well.
-My photos aren't turning out that great?
- 3 factors are the key to your photos. 1) Resolution is very important in lightroom, the higher the pixels, the more control you have over certain elements. Film grain is very dependent on resolution, so if you are shooting in 1080p or lower, be ready to adjust that slider. 2) File type can cause issues. While PNGs are fine and alright, RAW files from a professional camera are the best for editing, and avoid JPEG and other oddball formats. 3) White balance and Exposure are vital to a good image! If you are editing a PNG, be ready to tweak, twiddle, fiddle, and experiment with those sliders to get a proper image!
-Am I allowed to edit these?
- Go ahead! These are meant to be a good cheap way to get quickly into photography, and to prove to you that you don't need to be a "expert" to take good photos. Feel free to edit them to your style and wants, and save brand new presets for your future photoshoots!
-Am I allowed to resell my new presets I made?
- Within reason I guess. If you made your own presets from scratch, you may sell those, but just repackaging mine goes against my privacy policy and Gumroad's policy. Feel free to learn the ins and outs of these presets and make your own!
